Heronswood Design were appointed to obtain both Planning and Building Regulations approval for the replacement dwelling, which followed the mass and traditional cottage form of the original dwelling. We worked closely with the LPA to respect the frontage form, while including extensive additional built form rearward facing into the plot.

The choice of materials was key to ensure dwelling sat quietly and harmoniously within the site. The homeowners cleaned and re-used all of the facing bricks to the main body of the house, which marry in nicely with the new bricks, cream windows and pantile roof coverings.

This dwelling is a clear demonstration of how, through working collaboratively, we can meet the client’s brief and be sensitive to the Local Authorities Planning Department requirements.
