We worked collaboratively with JH Walter’s Planning Team to obtain Planning Approval for the conversion of a sensitive, traditional stone barn, into a five bedroom detached dwelling.

We focused heavily on conserving original doors and frames, feature roof trusses, hardwood purlins and timber framed elements within the roofspace. We also added a contemporary glazed link with zinc flat roof coverings and modern two-storey glazed elements.

Post planning consent, we obtained Building Regulations approval, and also administered the JCT Intermediate Contract. The project was shortlisted for ‘Best Individual New home’ and ‘Best Change of Use of an Existing Building or Conversion’ at the East Midlands LABC Building Excellence Awards 2019.
